FEBRUARY 2025
March 2025
A Taizé service is a meditative, contemplative style of Christian worship that originated from the Taizé Community in France. It is characterized by repetitive, simple chants, periods of silence, scripture readings, and prayer, creating an atmosphere of peace and reflection. The service often incorporates candlelight and minimal spoken words, encouraging participants to connect with God through quiet contemplation and song. It is ecumenical, welcoming people from different Christian traditions to pray together in unity.

Fireside: Big Questions, Small Talk
A Lenten Series
Friday evenings March 7, 14, 21, 28 & April 4, 11
6:00pm | Firepit in the Meadow
Every Friday throughout Lent, we invite you to embrace the spirit of community and reflection by the warmth of a crackling fire. These gatherings are a chance to unwind, share stories, and find solace in the company of others on their Lenten journey.
We encourage you to bring your own snacks and drinks, fostering a cozy, low-fuss atmosphere where simplicity reigns and hearts open. Whether it's clear skies or rain clouds overhead, our gatherings promise a steady flame and a welcoming space for all who seek.
Kicking off at 6pm, each evening is an opportunity to share in the beauty of shared experiences and the quiet strength found in community. Whether you're looking to reflect, share, or simply be in the presence of others, you'll find a place by our fire.
Let's come together under the stars and the soft glow of firelight, sharing stories and warmth as we journey through Lent.
Lenten Practices
with Jeremy Fiebig
Sunday Morning March 9
9:15am | Parish Hall
Join us for a special adult formation class as we step into a holy Lent together, walking in community, mutuality, and healing. This one-time gathering invites us into relational discussions about Lenten practices—not just as individuals, but as families, as a church, and as a wider community. Together, we’ll explore how this season can shape us, how we might hold space for one another, and how our shared journey can deepen our faith and connection. Come ready to reflect, listen, and discover meaningful ways to engage Lent as a practice of renewal and belonging.
Cultivating Seeds of Compassion
with Karen Goble
Thursday evenings March 13, 20 & April 3, 10
6:00pm, followed by Labyrinth walk | Vesting Room
This four-session contemplative practice series invites participants to explore compassion through meditative practice and reflection. Each session will combine reflective discussion, guided meditation, and labyrinth walking meditation to cultivate a deeper awareness of self-compassion and compassion for others. The labyrinth serves as a symbolic journey, offering a space for introspection, intention-setting, and connection to inner wisdom. Participants will engage in shared reflections and gentle contemplative exercises, fostering a sense of presence, renewal, and openness to the transformative nature of compassion in daily life.
God Can’t
with Dr. J.R. Hustwit
Sunday Mornings March 16, 23, 30, & April 6
9:15am | Parish Hall
Hurting people ask heart-felt questions about God and suffering. Some "answers" they receive appeal to mystery: “God’s ways are not our ways”. Some answers say God allows evil for a greater purpose. Some say evil is God's punishment. The usual answers fail. They don't support the truth that God loves everyone all the time. Author Thomas Jay Oord says God’s love is inherently uncontrolling. God loves everyone and everything, so God can't control anyone or anything. This means God cannot prevent evil singlehandedly. God can’t stop evildoers, whether human, animal, organisms, or inanimate objects and forces. And this is a good thing.
Brews & Beliefs
with Michael Cooley
Occasional gatherings
9:15am | April 13 | Coffee Only | Parish Hall
6:30pm | Times & Locations to be announced
Join us for Brews & Beliefs, a space where big questions meet good conversation—without the pressure of finding answers. Over a pint (or your beverage of choice), we’ll explore the deep and sometimes unanswerable questions of faith, belief, and what it means to be human. This is a space for curiosity, wonder, and honest dialogue, where doubt is welcome, mystery is embraced, and no one has to have it all figured out. Come as you are, bring your thoughts (and your favorite drink), and let’s wrestle with the questions that shape us.
The Stewardship Committee focuses on the creation, care, and connection of God's gifts to our parish. This includes creating sustainability by identifying parishioners' spiritual gifts, connecting people and ministries, and educating them about financial giving. If interested, please call the office at (910)484-2134 or email admin@htechurch.org.
If you are involved with Sunday School, Youth, or a Vestry Member, please check your inboxes for an invitation to begin your safe church training. Invitations to other ministry volunteers will be sent out in August.
